Hi, I’m Denise — flower grower, floral designer, and the heart behind Roots & Thread Co.

Roots & Thread began with a love of growing specialty cut flowers and a lifelong pull toward color, texture, and composition. With a background in textiles and fashion merchandising, I’ve always been drawn to the way different materials, tones, and forms come together — and floral design became a natural extension of that.

Now entering my sixth season of growing, my work is evolving more intentionally toward weddings and events. I’m especially inspired by designs that feel seasonal, expressive, and a little unexpected — flowers with movement, texture, and an editorial point of view.

The garden remains at the heart of what I do. Whenever the season allows, I incorporate flowers and foliage grown on my quarter-acre plot alongside thoughtfully sourced blooms, creating work that feels connected to its setting and to the moment it was made for.

Some of my earliest memories are tied to flowers — pansies tucked into my hair, lilacs outside my bedroom window, and the quiet magic of being surrounded by something growing. That sense of connection still shapes the way I design today. I want the flowers I create to feel beautiful, of course, but also personal, atmospheric, and deeply tied to memory.

Roots & Thread Co. is a boutique flower farm and floral design studio specializing in garden-inspired weddings, intimate events, and seasonal work throughout Connecticut and the surrounding area.

You can still find seasonal wrapped bouquets at Greiser’s Coffee & Market from spring through fall, while wedding and event design has become an increasingly central part of the studio.

I’m excited for this next chapter — one rooted in the garden, shaped by design, and centered around creating flowers for moments people will remember.
